YES IT DID!
I have to say that this was TOTALLY unexpected! I had no idea that I would have been chosen to be a part of the “Young At Art” exhibition at the Grand Bohemian Art Gallery in Mountain Brook, AL.
I was both honored and (honestly) a little scared. Over the summer, I lost several family members and even started to become insecure about my artwork. However, as the end of summer approached, things started to look up.
First, I was sent an email from my counselor to be a Peer Leader for my department. This is a new program started this year to mentor the younger students in our respective programs. As a Visual Artist student, it was truly an honor to be chosen by my art directors. Then, the moment I received the text from my mom today that I was given the chance to display my art…MY ART in the Grand Bohemian Hotel. A REAL public gallery! NOW THIS gave me the boost of confidence I needed!
While attending the gallery event, I saw some of the most beautiful expressions of art, from paintings and sculptures to jewelry. There was one art piece that had a price tag of $48,000. In that moment, I realized that my gift of art could allow me to make a living doing what I love. I am still young and have plenty of time to grow and improve. From that moment forward, I made a vow to myself to create the best art that only I could make. Every artist is on their own personal level when it comes to their skill and technique. This is why I’ll continue my journey with pride, knowing that I can do anything I put my mind to.
